OUTFIT ART

Changing seasons or decluttering your wardrobe? Proper storage is key to keeping your clothes fresh, safe, and ready for their next wear. Here’s how to store clothes like a pro.

Clean Before You Store : Dirt, body oils, and food stains attract insects and can permanently set over time. Always wash or dry clean before packing clothes away.

Avoid Plastic Bags and Cardboard Boxes : Plastic traps moisture and encourages mildew, while cardboard attracts bugs. Use breathable cotton storage bins or acid-free boxes instead.

Use Cedar or Lavender : Skip the mothballs and go natural. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets keep pests away while leaving a pleasant scent behind.

Fold Neatly with Tissue Paper : Folding with acid-free tissue helps prevent wrinkles and protects delicate fabrics like silk or wool from friction.

Store in a Cool, Dry Place : Avoid attics or basements. Temperature and humidity changes can damage clothes. Opt for a closet or under-bed storage in a climate-controlled space.

Vacuum Seal Selectively : Vacuum bags are great for synthetic, bulky items like puffers or comforters, but avoid them for wool, leather, or items that need to breathe.
